So K.M. Weiland had this blog post this morning…KM’s desk in all it’s glory.
After it went the rounds in my author group, we were challenged to put up a picture of our desk.
Honestly, not too bad today. On Sunday, I had a major personal meltdown. My desk had been cluttered and papers weren’t organized and there were items that didn’t belong there…that had been there for waaaaay too long. So, like an organizing tornado, I whipped through, shredded what didn’t need to exist, filed what did, and then grouped the rest. As you can see, in the efforts I uncovered four pair of glasses (two reading and two for driving-I’d been living on one pair-so this alone–HUGE success in my eyes (pun intended)). Also, I put my water into a coffeecup as a coaster so that the water drips into the cup not on my desk. I have a stack of magnets that need to have business cards attached, but that’s not happening anytime soon. And there dis still a stack of paperwork, but it’s about 1/2 the size it was on Sunday (yes, 1/2…ugh).
All in all, I’m not scared to show my desk and even if it were mess, I’d still show it, because that usually only means I’m deep in a project. Like the one I’m doing right now. I’m trying to work smarter, not harder, and that means writing with purpose, just like keeping my desk clean with purpose.
I’d love to see links to your desk posted in the comments!
Happy living, loving, and laughing!
